A headline for any UK readers out there, it’ll go over the heads of those North Americans!
Blah blah and more blah
Texas’ favorite beaver, Buc-ee’s, is coming for another anthropomorphic four-legged creature. This time, the gas station chain is trying to rid a dog-centric coffee spot in Missouri of its logo and name, saying it too closely resembles the smiling beaver — a common complaint lodged by the travel center brand.
Barc-ee’s in Marshfield, Missouri, is a local coffee and food spot that offers up a dog play area, jungle gyms and a mini western town for kids to meander. Not exactly a direct rival of the gas-and-snack overload you’d experience at a Buc-ee’s.
But that hasn’t stopped the giant gas station chain, which originated in Texas but is quickly expanding across several states, from crying foul over Barc-ee’s similarity in name and circular logo.
“By using the Barc-ee’s Logo — a colorable imitation of the Buc-ee’s Logo — Defendants have violated Buc-ee’s Trademarks,” the lawsuit states. “[Barc-ee’s] actions regarding use of Barc-ee’s Logo have all been without authorization of Buc-ee’s.”
