Legal Intelligence is known for its advanced search engine by which legal and tax professionals can search through all the information they need for their work.
Thanks to this acquisition, Kluwer will be bringing in valuable knowledge and experience in online knowledge management and content integration. Legal Intelligence will as a consequence be in a better financial position to achieve its desired applications more rapidly. After the acquisition, Legal Intelligence will continue to operate as an independent organization, thereby keeping existing plans, ongoing projects and agreements intact. Kluwer’s current agreements with other content integrators will not be affected by this agreement.
Legal Intelligence launched the first Dutch legal search engine that made content available from various publishers. Its customers include large, medium-sized and smaller law firms, companies and governments.
“Legal Intelligence fits perfectly with Kluwer’s strategy of helping customers on all fronts,” Frank Vrancken Peeters, CEO Kluwer explains. “This also applies to the integration of content from various sources and from the customer itself. In other words: our customers expect advanced solutions for knowledge management so they can work more efficiently and effectively. We see the acquisition of Legal Intelligence as an important step in that direction. We have been partners for quite some time, which makes this acquisition a logical step. The clear, underlying assumption was that Legal Intelligence would maintain its independent position. That is precisely its strength, also for the future.”
Evert de Pender, Managing Director Legal Intelligence: “Legal Intelligence has a strong market position and its clientele continues to grow rapidly. However, these customers are increasing their demands on our services. This strategic step gives us new opportunities to grow as a specialist in knowledge management. Another advantage is that Kluwer is part of Wolters Kluwer, which has a global reach with regards to investments in content solutions development. It is important for our customers that Legal Intelligence will continue to operate independently. The ultimate goal eventually is to raise our services to professionals to an even higher level.”
