Another US – Aus burger battle. It does seem that Australian burger chains / outlets are totally incapable of an original thought and just go to the US to self serve ideas and then hope that because  the country is at the bottom of the world nobody will notice…….. WRONG

The Sydney Morning Herald Reports

US restaurant chain Sizzler has taken an Australian burger outlet to court over a “Sizzler” burger it claims rides on the coat-tails of its trademarks, including its “signature cheese toast product”.

Brisbane-headquartered Burger Urge, which has outlets in Queensland and NSW, appears to have taken the business slogan “sell the sizzle, not the steak” literally by marketing a “Sizzler” fried chicken burger on cheese bread.

Early marketing described the burger as an “ode to the cultural icon” that was Sizzler in the 1990s.

The name of the burger was later changed to “the Sizzle”, and it is now called the “fried chicken sandwich”.
