Westlaw AU (thomsonreuters.com.au/westlawAU) offers unrivaled content from case law and journals, legislation and commentary to precedents, encyclopaedia and news, as well as legal and tax information. The technology behind the intuitive search capability within Westlaw AU helps point users to precise points of law and offers a new level of confidence that information is authoritative, current and the results are comprehensive.
Built upon state-of-the-art Westlaw technology, Westlaw AU is developed specifically for Australian customers and is modeled after Thomson Reuters online legal information services in the United Kingdom, United States, Asia, India and South America.
Jackie Rhodes, chief executive officer for Thomson Reuters legal businesses in Australia and New Zealand, said Westlaw AU also features FirstPoint, the first and most comprehensive Case Digest and Case Citator service in Australia, as well as the only Digest service that allows browsing by subject. Additional features of the service allow for the creation of alerts for new content, and the ability to create and customize folders to organize, store and retrieve information efficiently.

Westlaw AU was developed through a collaborative effort with Australian legal professionals – more than 300 participated in surveys, focus groups and interviews, and shared valuable ideas and insights. Through product development, customers demonstrated how they search and work with legal information, and also tested the prototypes, ensuring Westlaw AU was being built to meet their needs.
Westlaw AU is the latest in a series of Westlaw services to be developed for legal professionals in key global markets. Thomson Reuters recently launched Westlaw Gulf, developed specifically for legal professionals in the Middle East, and Revista dos Tribunais Online, Brazil’s first online legal research tool. It also offers Westlaw services for practitioners in the United States, United Kingdom, India, China, Spain and other countries.
