Westlaw Has New UK Securities Centre

Thomson Reuters has announced a expansion of its global Westlaw Business platform, including the launch of the new Securities-UK Centre.

They write in their press release

The platform offers a first-of-its-kind business research and workflow tool geared to support business and transactional lawyers around the world.

The Securities-UK Centre offers fully searchable listings from the Financial Services Authority, plus relevant legislation and guidance, and is presented in a format that supports the way business lawyers work. Its navigation is built upon a specialized search taxonomy that reflects the unique language of the business law professional.

"The Securities-UK Centre will better meet the needs of lawyers advising on U.K. disclosure requirements than any competing alternative," said Kevin Ritchey, senior vice president and general manager, Westlaw Business. "It will help lawyers win in a tough economic environment with current information tailored especially for business law professionals and supported by our expert customer service team."

For business, global may mean opportunity, but it also means cross-border transactions, the addition of global reporting standards, increasing regulatory review and a greater emphasis on disclosure transparency. The business law professionals who advise these global clients and help them make decisions, seize opportunities and avoid costly errors need information in the form of answers and technology that works as smart as they do.

Westlaw Business combines relevant transactional and legal guidance with tools designed specifically for business law practitioners. In addition to Securities-UK, Westlaw Business features specialized work centers including Restructuring, Securities-U.S and Securities-Canada, M & A, Private Equity and LIVEDGAR.

"Rolling out Westlaw Business as a true global platform for business law professionals all over the world is a cornerstone for our efforts and our commitment to support legal practitioners on a global basis," said Peter Warwick, CEO of Thomson Reuters, Legal. "Westlaw Business Securities-UK serves as an excellent example of the unique promise of Thomson Reuters. Securities-UK content is carefully structured and supported to allow the right information to find the user, at the very moment when they need it."

"Business lawyers recognize the value of Westlaw Business and how vital a resource it is in the practice of global business law," said Ritchey. "We will continue to expand the Westlaw Business platform by developing new areas, such as Islamic Finance and an even more globally oriented M&A center."

"As we approach the anniversary of Thomson’s acquisition of Reuters, the real value of the combined company is becoming very apparent," noted Warwick. "Westlaw Business starts with the content, technology and taxonomy that make Westlaw the preferred online information service for legal professionals, and adds the powerful brand strength and global reach of Thomson Reuters. The result is better tools to support legal professionals – and their clients – around the world."
