Prosecutors are probing the alleged frauds for possible criminal charges. But one attorney says quicker action by the DA could have spared further victims.
An attorney accused in six separate lawsuits of stealing millions from clients’ real estate transactions and under a criminal probe by the Westchester District Attorney’s Office was disbarred after applying to resign from practice.
Laurieanne DeLitta, an Armonk-based attorney who has practiced for almost 20 years, submitted an application to resign on Nov. 2 while facing five professional-misconduct complaints related to the alleged theft of client funds, according to a May 19 order by the Appellate Division, Second Department.
DeLitta conceded that she could not successfully defend herself from the allegations, the order stated.
