Wang Jing & Co Publish Monthly Newsletter On China Law Developments

We’ve just received our update from Chinese law Firm Wang Jing & Co…

They write:

Despite the financial and economic crises, or perhaps due to it, 2009 is shaping up to be a busy year. We are happy to send you the long awaited release of our second issue of the China Legal Bulletin.

This time we are broaching two important topics in these troubling times.

  • We start the Bulletin off with an analysis of the different approach to corporate governance for WHOE¡¯s in China. Senior Consultant Maarten Roos and associate Chen Yun discuss how Chinese law views the responsibilities of senior management and what steps businesses should take when safeguarding against malfeasance.
  • Our second article is a timely warning about current revisions to China’s recent changes to the turnover tax regime are effective foreign companies that provide services or financing to companies in China, including foreign-invested subsidiaries. Associate and tax expert Cao Xin provides specific examples of enterprises that may be forced to pay taxes here and abroad on their turnover due to these new changes.
  • Finally, we provide you with an update on what the Wang Jing & Co. team has been up to in 2009. This includes awards to seven of our lawyers and consultants as Asia Leading Lawyers, visits to the US Consulate in Guangzhou, and a look at our summer internship program. We also give a brief glimpse at how the government is starting to encourage foreign investment again and what impacts the recent CEPA supplement will have on enterprises doing business in China.
