Skaneateles, N.Y. — Well-known civil attorney Bill Lynn died Wednesday after being hit by a tractor trailer on Monday in Skaneateles, according to Skaneateles Police Chief Scott Heggelke.
Lynn, 86, was a long-time lawyer in the Syracuse area. He has law offices in downtown Syracuse and in the village of Skaneateles. Lynn currently practiced predominantly personal injury law.
On Monday, just after 9 a.m., Lynn was walking from morning mass to get coffee before heading into his law office, according to his daughter, Patricia Lynn-Ford. The tractor trailer hit Lynn as he crossed East Genesee Street at its intersection with State Street in the village.
A preliminary investigation found that the tractor trailer had a green light, Heggelke said. No tickets have been issued in the crash, he said.
Lynn was a longtime criminal defense lawyer before turning to personal injury law, Lynn-Ford said. He represented defendants connected to the corruption trial of former Syracuse Mayor Lee Alexander.
