The Manager, Westlaw Strategy is a key member of the Westlaw product management team, developing strategies to drive profitable growth of our Westlaw business. The Manager, Westlaw Strategy will work closely with product, segment marketing and sales & account management partners to help identify, structure, manage and execute strategies that align with our business objectives. He or she will manage customer-focused and internal research projects, and will analyze opportunities related to Westlaw pricing, commercial practices, marketing, and product enhancement.

The Manager, Westlaw Strategy will be expected to:

  • Independently structure, manage and execute Westlaw growth strategy projects, such as those described below
  • Perform and manage complex, data-driven analyses to inform pricing, commercial policy and product enhancement decisions (either independently or guiding members of the team)
  • Develop compelling, well-structured storylines and presentations that drive executives to action
  • Support the development of business cases to fund product enhancements, process improvement and business growth initiatives
  • Contribute to customer research projects, driving new insights and shaping product strategies
  • Partner with Product, Segment Marketing, Sales & Account Management stakeholders to drive buy-in, and assist in the implementation of strategies

Example projects include:

  • Business Growth: customer research projects, market assessment and sizing, product bundling strategies
  • Operational Improvement: price optimization studies, commercial policy setting
  • Strategic Planning: business case development, annual planning

Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • 7+ years of full-time work experience, with business strategy experience required (e.g., corporate strategy, product management)
  • 2+ years of directly managing business/product strategy projects and presenting to senior leaders
  • Bachelors degree required; MBA preferred
  • In-depth experience leading complex, data-driven projects
  • Strong experience developing clear, concise and compelling presentations

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent problem solving skills with proven analytical skills
  • Superior business and financial acumen
  • Strong ability to manage a wide variety of projects and deliver on high priority asks within tight deadlines and a clear sense of ownership
  • Proven ability to build relationships and to influence individuals to action
  • Ability to travel periodically as necessary
