Job Summary

If you answered yes to these questions, Whatcom County is interested in learning more about your qualifications and experience. The Law Librarian is relied upon to Manage law library operations to provide effective legal reference services to library patrons including the legal community, County employees, paralegal students, and the general public. Implements programs and analyzes effectiveness. Assists management, other staff, and pro se patrons in finding legal materials. Coordinates the collection, development and analysis of data and other information relative to the law library. Exercises independent judgment in analyzing problems, issues and situations; develops and implements recommendations. Plans, conducts and presents at meetings. . Complies with legal standards and requirements.

The County provides medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage for the employee and eligible dependents, and life insurance and long-term disability coverage for the employee. The cost of these benefits will be pro-rated based on the FTE – in 2016 the cost would be approximately $554.75 – $639.65 per month, depending on plan choice.  Should an employee elect medical coverage, contributions shall be deducted from paychecks.

Qualifications

Requires two years of progressively responsible college, technical, legal, or law library experience AND a Bachelor’s degree in library science.

Background check must meet County criteria.

Must pass job-related tests.

May be required to become a Notary Public and maintain throughout employment
