USA – Portland Oregon: Interim Reference and Research Librarian – Law School

This position serves as a member of the Reference and Research Services team, providing legal reference and research services to law students, faculty, staff, the College community, and other patrons of the Law Library. This is a nine-month position, available only from September 2017 through April 2018.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MLS (or equivalent)
  • JD (or foreign equivalent)

In order to comply with US Homeland Security Department regulations, all employees must complete an I-9 form in Workday prior to or no later than the first day of work and bring originals (no photocopies) of their supporting documentation to Human Resources no later than the 3rd business day of employment. Failure to have a completed I-9 form on file with the College will result in immediate termination of employment.

Pay Rate
$45,000 (9 month contract)

Essential Functions

  • Provide reference and research support to law school students, faculty, staff, the College community, and other patrons of the Law Library.
  • Provide reference services to library patrons at the reference desk, in individual student consultations, and via phone, email, and online chat.
  • Participate in faculty research projects assigned to the reference department.
  • Assist senior librarians in providing training and support to law library student reference and research assistants.
  • Participate in the creation and provision of legal research workshops, trainings, classes, and other presentations.
  • Create and update research guides, finding aids, and other documentation, both print and electronic, intended to educate and assist patrons in conducting legal research and increasing access to library resources.
  • Help maintain the law library website and online communication channels.
  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of information resources.
  • Assist with projects and tasks assigned to the reference department.
  • Participate in professional development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
