Law Librarian (Part Time)

The County Law Library Resource Board is currently accepting employment applications for the part-time position of Law Librarian for the Wayne County Law Library. Skills in Microsoft Office applications, public relations, research and computer troubleshooting is preferred. Knowledge of database structures, experience in vendor negotiation, and familiarity with legal terminology. Experience searching Westlaw and other legal databases. Library experience and/or a Master’s Degree in Library Science is a plus, but not required.

This position will act as Chief Administrator for the County Law Library Resource Board (CLLRB) which, through the Wayne County Law Library, provides research, reference, and library services to the county and to the municipal corporations, townships, and courts within the county and manages the coordination, acquisition, and utilization of legal resources. The duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintain the Law Library as a physical and online space by providing regular hours of service, assuring computers and printers are functioning, maintaining online library catalog and library blog, and maintaining access to Westlaw and other online databases.
  • Fiscal Management by participating in GEMS county-wide accounting system; submitting, preparing, and overseeing annual budget; preparing vendor and blanket purchase orders; authorizing and paying invoices; and monitoring statutory contributions to CLLRB.
  • Reference Service to library visitors and phone inquiries, maintaining library webpage and online catalog, requesting and providing materials to and from consortium members, the courts, the legal community, the county, and the public.
  • Collection Development by evaluating and processing requests for additional resources, participating in consortium activities and staying informed of new developments, and reporting resource usage and library visits.
