MultiLing Opens New Office in Taiwan, Expands Offices in Mainland China, Japan and South Korea to Meet Increasing Demand for IP Translation Services Across Asia

According to the World Intellectual Property Indicators 2013( http://www.wipo.int/pressroom/en/articles/2013/article_0028.html ), in 2012, for the first time, mainland China accounted for the largest number of patents filed throughout the world (560,681). In addition, the State IP Office in mainland China accounted for the largest number of applications received by any single IP office worldwide (652,777). Japan ranks second in the number of patents filed, followed by the United States, then South Korea.

Growth in Asia
Taiwan: MultiLing’s new office in Taiwan is located in Taipei City. According to the U.S.-Taiwan Connect organization, the island’s thriving economy is based primarily on high-tech exports, with Taiwan ranking as one of the most important links in the global supply chain of technology products. In fact, Taiwan is home to more than half of the top 100 IT companies in Asia, as well as research and development centers for 30 multinational companies, including HP, Dell, IBM, Intel, Corning, DuPont and Microsoft.

Mainland China: MultiLing’s new mainland China office is located in Tianjin, the sixth largest city in mainland China and 30 minutes from Beijing by high-speed train. As a harbor city with a freight handling capacity of 400 million tons, Tianjin is one of mainland China’s economic hotspots. It is governed directly by the Peking authorities and therefore has the same status as a Chinese Province. More than 280 of the Fortune Global 500 companies have established branches in the Tianjin Binhai New Area (TBNA).
Japan: In August 2013, MultiLing moved into a new, modern office in downtown Yokohama, a port city just outside Tokyo that is home to the headquarters of Nissan, Fuji Xerox, and other global enterprises. South Korea: In January, MultiLing doubled its office space in Seoul, Korea, by moving up one floor in its existing office building.
