US Punk Band Cromags End Up In Court Over Name

A founder of Cro-Mags, a hardcore punk band from New York City, is suing his former bandmate for allegedly ripping off the group’s name, according to a federal trademark infringement lawsuit filed on Monday.

 

 

The suit, filed by Savoia NYC Inc., which is owned by Cro-Mags founder and former bassist Harley Flanagan, claims that John Joseph McGowan, the former lead singer of the band, used the name “Cro-Mags Jam” in violation of a 2019 settlement agreement giving Flanagan the rights to the Cro-Mags name.
