Updates: (i)First judicial interpretation of the year. (ii) Provisions on Providing Cross-Border Filing Services for Litigants

Susan Finder editor at China Supreme Court Monitor reports

  1. First judicial interpretation of the year. For those who are interested in Chinese criminal procedure, the Supreme People’s Court issued its longest judicial interpretation ever (655 articles), ?its interpretation of the Criminal Procedure Law?????????????????????????????????2021?1?.  It has been in the works since 2018. http://www.court.gov.cn/zixun-xiangqing-286501.html. There is a great deal of important content there.
  2. Provisions on Providing Cross-Border Filing Services for Litigants
http://www.court.gov.cn/zixun-xiangqing-286331.html, with provisions on making it easier for foreign litigants to file suit in China, Chinese courts to hear witnesses abroad, etc.  These had been flagged in earlier SPC policy. Earlier policy/regulations on foreign courts hearing witnesses located in China/foreign lawyers taking depositions for use in a foreign court remain unchanged.
