Dear all,
The Professional Development Committee is pleased to invite members of BIALL to register as mentees in the BIALL Mentoring Scheme. Taking part in the scheme as a mentee offers the opportunity to benefit from the wisdom of an experienced colleague and demonstrate commitment to your professional growth. All BIALL members are welcome to take part.
What is the BIALL Mentoring Scheme?
The BIALL scheme is a member-to-member mentoring scheme. It is an opportunity for more experienced members of the profession (the mentor) to support less experienced members (the mentee) who wish to achieve a desired outcome.
What can a mentor help me with?
Mentors can offer guidance and insight on work-based issues, tasks or career development. Mentees will be asked to outline a specific area, issue or goal that they wish to work on. Examples could include:
- taking on new roles or responsibilities at work;
- a project in an area of work the mentee is inexperienced with;
- developing the right skills to further career aspirations.
What would be expected of me as a mentee?
Mentees will be matched with a mentor based on the areas of development they are looking to work on. Mentees arrange the meetings with their mentor and should come to meetings prepared with specific questions or areas for discussion.
How can I register as a mentee?
If you are interested in becoming a mentee, please complete the mentee registration form on the BIALL Mentoring Scheme page on the BIALL website before the end of Friday 6 September 2023. Due to the nature of the scheme, it may not be possible for everyone who expresses an interest in taking part to be involved in the programme.
