University of Oregon law school announces legal names for osprey chicks

At long last something we really want to write about !

The winning names for the baby ospreys living above the University of Oregon’s law school are tongue-in-check nods to the U.S. Supreme Court — Ruth Bader Ginsbird and Sandra Day O’sprey.

Inspiration comes from current Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and former Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. The UO announced the names Friday after conducting a naming contest this month.

A webcam atop the Knight Law Center offers a view into the nest. This year there are two osprey chicks, which can be hard to tell apart. But the larger youngster is Ginsbird, according to UO law school spokeswoman Laura McGinnis.
