University of Arkansas appoints Emily Suski as law school dean

Emily Suski has been appointed dean of the University of Arkansas School of Law, effective July 1, 2026, the university announced Jan. 9.

Suski will succeed Dean Cynthia Nance, who will return to a full-time faculty role.

“I look forward to working with her to continue the great momentum the School of Law has experienced under Dean Cynthia Nance’s leadership and increase the school’s footprint in Northwest Arkansas and the rest of the state,” Provost Indrajeet Chaubey said.

Suski joins the University of Arkansas from the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law, where she has been a faculty member since 2016 and most recently served as associate dean for “strategic and institutional priorities,” according to a news release. She is the founding faculty director of the Carolina Health Advocacy Medicolegal Partnership and previously served as associate dean for clinics and externships at the institution.

Her prior academic appointments include Georgia State University College of Law and the University of Virginia School of Law. Earlier in her career, Suski worked as a staff attorney for the JustChildren Program of the Legal Aid Justice Center in Charlottesville, Virginia.
