UK’s Simmons & Simmons To Make Further Staff Cuts

That UK firm Simmons & Simmons is undertaking a fresh redundancy consultation that is likely to see around 20 associates and up to 49 secretarial and support staff lose their jobs.

They write:

The lawyer redundancies will be in capital markets, banking, projects and real estate.

The firm is also reviewing the positions of 35 secretaries and 12 to 14 professional support staff.

Managing partner Mark Dawkins (pictured) said: "We think our business is changing, particularly in the transactional area.

"We’ve made the decision to adjust to a changing market."

Dawkins added that, while the firm was reviewing the performance of its partners on an ongoing basis, there were no plans for partner cuts.
