UK’s Barlow Lyde & Gilbert’s Lateral Hire In China

The Lawyer magazine has reported that Barlow Lyde & Gilbert (BLG) has hired the head of US firm Fredrikson & Byron?s China practice.

The report goes on to say that partner Brinton Scott has joined the firm to lead the development of its Shanghai office.

BLG lost Hong Kong and China chief Camille Jojo to rival Norton Rose in April this year. Jojo had held the position since 1995.

BLG partner David Smyth was chosen to succeed him in May.

The firm?s senior partner Simon Konsta said: ?Brinton?s appointment is another significant step in BLG?s international strategy to develop the full potential of our team in China and across Asia.

?We?ll continue to focus on our Asia investment and to build on the team?s core strengths to ensure we continue to provide the best service to our clients.?
