Ukraine extends martial law and general mobilization again

Kiev, Feb 7 (Prensa Latina) The Ukrainian Government decided to extend martial law and general mobilization for another 90 days, the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada (parliament of Ukraine) Yaroslav Zhelesniak said on Tuesday.

The lawmaker explained on his Telegram channel that President Vladimir Zelensky had on Monday introduced the bills to extend the martial law and general mobilization in the country for three months.

According to Zhelesniak, the Parliament passed Law number 8419 on the presidential decrees extending the martial law, with 348 votes in favor, which makes it possible to extend the action as of February 19 for another 90 days.

At the same time, 344 deputies approved Law 8420 to extend the general mobilization, which will also be in force as from February 19.

Kiev introduced martial law on February 24, 2022, following the beginning of the special military operation launched by Russia in eastern Ukraine and has extended it several times, the last one for 90 days as well.
