Very belatedly (it is now well over two months since Russia invaded Ukraine), the Home Office has finally launched what it calls the Ukraine Extension Scheme. This is basically just a way for Ukrainians already in the UK to extend their stay lawfully. Until now, for example, a Ukrainian on a Seasonal Agricultural Worker visa had to stay on that visa and was not permitted to work for any other employer, even if the original employer had no work for them. The fact this simple scheme was not launched until now is further an indictment of basic administrative capacity and competence at the Home Office.
