University of Leicester has announced that Professor Carlo Panara has been appointed as Head of Leicester Law School.
Professor Panara comes to Leicester after four years and a half as Director of the School of Law at Liverpool John Moores University. He has also worked at University of Hull and University of Perugia (Italy) teaching and researching EU law.
Between 2014 and 2015, Professor Panara was a Senior Research Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at the University of Tubingen, Germany, and previously a doctoral and postdoctoral research fellow of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg, Germany. He is also the co-editor-in-chief of European Public Law journal.
At Liverpool John Moores University, Professor Panara developed the School of Law into one of the most successful schools in the North West for undergraduate and postgraduate student satisfaction. He also developed a strong research culture and expanded the university’s law clinic into one of the largest in Europe.

Professor Panara will take up post in Leicester Law School from 1 August 2024.
