UK Position: An award winning, leading international law firm requires an Information Officer to join a friendly team to provide in-depth business and legal research to internal clients.

  You will work across the firm to develop a deep understanding of the business requirements to deliver decision ready information.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day delivery of research within the Knowledge and Information Centre team
  • Provide detailed analysis and information summaries on clients, industries, geographies and other topics, collating relevant information from a variety of sources. This will include competitor analysis and providing company profiles for pitches and existing clients
  • Provide training sessions and presentations on research resources
  • Proactively meet with internal clients to raise awareness, ensure effective use of the service and collect and share feedback
  • Assist the Information Centre Manager with raising the profile of the department through hot-desking in the practice areas, drop-in sessions and floor walking
  • Contribute to the assessment of information resources to ensure they are providing value to the business
  • Assist the Information Centre Manager with the procurement of new and existing information resources
  • Assist fee-earners with legal research and provide resource recommendations
  • Provide corporate and legal current awareness to support the legal practices and the firms’ strategy. This will include tracking legislation and keeping up-to-date with relevant news
  • Amend existing and create new templates for research and analysis

 

To be considered for this role you will need the following skills and experience: 

  • Degree level education (Library / Information qualification desirable)
  • Experience of providing a wide range of research and analysis to clients in a Professional Services firm or large corporate organisation
  • Ability to analyse information and produce summaries, customised to meet the needs of internal clients
  • Excellent legal and business research skills, using both hard copy and online resources
  • Extensive knowledge of online systems including Nexis, Mint/Orbis, Perfect Information, LexisLibrary, Westlaw and PLC
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Advanced knowledge of Word and Excel
  • Proactive approach to client service
  • Ability to manage own workload and work to deadlines
  • Able to form effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels across the business
