Former law firm support worker convicted of secretly filming customers in the toilet of a Starbucks coffee shop has been removed from the profession.
The Solicitors Regulation Authority said it was not desirable for Antony Dines to be involved in a legal practice and that his presence would undermine public trust.
Dines, a facilities assistant with national firm Lyons Davidson, was convicted in December 2017 after pleading guilty to what the SRA described as four ‘serious’ criminal offences. It was reported at the time he was convicted of voyeurism after installing a hidden camera in the toilets of a Starbucks coffee shop close to the headquarters of MI6 in Vauxhall, London.
Dines was caught after police investigators discovered he had accidentally filmed himself putting the camera in place. After the image was publicised, colleagues at his firm reported Dines. It was further reported that he had also recorded colleagues using the toilet at the office where he worked in New Malden.
Dines was employed by the Lyons Davidson support services company and worked exclusively at the firm’s offices.
Dines, formerly a church administrator, was sentenced to a community order and to carry out unpaid work of 200 hours. He admitted that his conviction for serious criminal offences should prevent him working again in the profession. He also agreed that details of the SRA decision should be published, and that he should pay the regulator’s £300 investigation costs.

Antony Dines, 31, hid a spycam in an air vent at the coffee shop in Vauxhall, leaving it to film unsuspecting women for up to a month in November last year.He had also used the matchbox-sized camera to secretly record colleagues on the toilet at the office where he worked in New Malden.
