Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has announced the appointment of Simon Johnson as trainee recruitment partner, heading up the firm?s graduate recruitment activities in the UK. In the role, Simon will take on the responsibility of overseeing the firm?s trainee recruitment initiatives and building on its reputation as a leading graduate employer. In addition, Deborah Dalgleish, currently Freshfields? head of UK trainee recruitment and head of diversity and inclusion, will, from October, move into working full-time as head of diversity and inclusion. Deborah?s role as head of UK trainee recruitment will be taken on by trainee recruitment manager Elizabeth Cope.
Simon Johnson comments: ?During any period of economic downturn, having top notch lawyers who deliver excellent client service is a source of immense competitive advantage, and recruiting new talent is therefore more important than ever. We see the coming months as an excellent opportunity to recruit the very best graduates, and will be increasing our already strong presence on campus accordingly.?
Global HR director Kevin Hogarth comments: ?I am very pleased to announce these three moves, which reflect Freshfields? commitment to attracting and retaining the brightest and most talented individuals. The role of trainee recruitment partner is an important one and we thank Mark for the dedication he has shown. We look forward to working with Simon and Elizabeth to continue bringing in top quality junior lawyers.
?As an international firm with an enormous variety of clients around the world, we are committed to ensuring that the people who work here reflect and reinforce this diversity. Deborah?s appointment as full-time head of diversity and inclusion will help us greatly in achieving these goals. After ten years as our head of UK trainee recruitment, Deborah?s breadth of experience will be invaluable as she turns her attentions full-time to continuing to ensure Freshfields is a diverse and inclusive workplace.?
