Jojo Mehta, who co-founded the ‘Stop Ecocide: Change the Law’ campaign together with the late Higgins, noted that Extinction Rebellion “have dedicated their boat to Polly, and it resonates because it’s in front of the Royal Courts, and Polly was a lawyer.” Mehta added that “the mission of [Higgins’] life was to make ecocide into an international crime, so as to make the large-scale destruction of nature a criminal offence right across the world.” The protest is one of numerous demonstrations taking place across London, Cardiff, Glasgow and Bristol, among other cities, demanding that the government take a greater action on the climate crisis.
