UK: Dine-and-dash’ ex-solicitor is still on the run — despite four warrants

Kerry Stevens, 40, has failed to appear at court on at least nine occasions in relation to a number of dine-and-dash incidents and is now the subject of a fresh appeal by Essex Police

An ex-solicitor accused of a string of dine-and-dash incidents is still on the run despite four warrants for her arrest being issued.

Kerry Stevens, 40, has failed to appear at court on at least nine occasions and is now the subject of a fresh appeal by Essex Police who on Thursday February 19 released a new mugshot of her.

Details emerged as her partner Daniel Alani, 39, was due to be sentenced at Ipswich Crown Court – but the hearing was adjourned after he failed to attend. No warrant was issued for his arrest as the court accepted he had a sufficient reason for his absence.

Stevens has been charged with eleven counts of making off without payment and one count of theft from a shop. She denies the offences and is due to face trial later this year.

Stevens and Alani, both previously of the Southend area, were first named locally after allegedly targeting restaurants and taxi firms. The pair are accused of attempting to leave without paying bills and cab fares.

Alani has pleaded guilty to theft, theft from a shop and eight counts of making off without payment. His sentencing is now listed for Thursday (February 26)
