BPP University has grown rapidly since gaining degree awarding powers in 2007 and now consists of four academic schools: BPP Law School, BPP Business School, BPP School of Health and BPP School of Foundation and English Language Studies (SOFELS). BPP’s Library and Information Service provides library services to support BPP University programmes at learning centres across the UK and online.
The role
You will have responsibility for the provision of Library and Information Services to students studying at BPP’s learning centre at London Holborn. You will also be responsible for delivering library services to BPP’s remotely managed library in Bristol.
BPP’s London Holborn centre delivers programmes to over 2500 professional law students with a core population of Legal Practice Course (LPC), Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) and LLM students. BPP’s Bristol centre has a population of less than 200 students studying the Legal Practice Course (LPC), the Graduate Diploma in Law and the LLB Undergraduate programme.
Responsibilities will include:
Management of the London Holborn library space and services and remote management of library services in Bristol; Line management of 4.5 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) Information Services Assistants; Designing and delivering face-to-face and online training programmes for students and staff; Working with the Acquisitions Librarian and Systems Librarian to coordinate and develop resources, including collection development and management, online information services, the online library and other initiatives
What we’re looking for
You will be an experienced user of legal databases and confident in training and supporting professional law students and staff in legal research. You will have experience of managing, training and supporting a team. You will be focussed on the student experience and able to balance the core areas of legal research training, managing a team and managing a library space. As part of the Library management team you will be able to think strategically and provide input and support to projects outside of your core areas of responsibility. You will be a good communicator and a creative thinker with a friendly and professional approach.
