Trump is a goldmine for information specialist Wolters Kluwer

The political upheaval in the United States after the election of Donald Trump as president has had a very positive effect on Dutch information services company Wolters Kluwer, the Financieele Dagblad said on Thursday. Based in Alphen aan den Rijn, Wolters Kluwer now provides specialised services for accountants, lawyers, tax advisers and medical specialists around the world. However, the company derived about 66% of its €4.3bn revenue in 2016 from North America. ‘We help guide our clients through all the changes,’ said company chairman Nancy McKinstry at the presentation of the company’s 2016 earnings on Wednesday. Wolters Kluwer posted net profit of €618m last year higher than analysts had expected and McKinstry expects further growth this year. McKinstry said there was a great deal of uncertainty over how Trump’s policies will translate into new rules and regulations. ‘In general though, changes have a positive effect for us,’ she added. McKinstry, who was born in Connecticut, has been at the helm of Wolters Kluwer for 13.5 years, making her the longest serving head of a Dutch bourse-listed company.
