Job Description:
The Campbell University School of Law Library is seeking an experienced reference librarian to join our team of skilled professionals. In addition to participating in law library instructional programs, the reference librarian will provide reference assistance, collection development, conduct individual research consultations, develop and author research guides, and participate in the faculty liaison program.
Responsibilities:
Reference Librarians at Campbell work as a team of skilled and experienced professionals that:
Provide reference assistance;
Provide reference and research services to a very active and creative faculty and student body;
Work actively with assigned faculty to monitor research interests and support teaching and scholarship;
Teach legal research, conduct research workshops, and participate in other forums;
Create research guides and other instructional materials in print and electronic formats;
Train and work with student research assistants;
Participate in collection development;
Participate in developing the library’s scholarly repository;
Provide support for first-year research instruction;
Participate in developing the library’s web presence; and
Actively keep abreast of current information technology developments with the potential to improve library reference and instructional services.

Required:
An ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library Science and a J.D. from an ABA-accredited school is required. Three to five years of law library reference experience.

Preferred:
The ideal candidate will have experience working in an academic law library; exceptional written and oral communication skills as well as leadership and teaching skills. The candidate will have a commitment to service, outstanding organizational and time-management skills, strong supervisory skills, and a strong work ethic. The candidate should have knowledge of current information technologies, database and Internet searching proficiencies, and a mastery of basic legal research sources and techniques using both print and electronic materials. In addition, the candidate should have a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation, and the ability to work in a collegial and cooperative environment. The successful candidate will support and enhance a diverse learning and working environment and must be willing to work a flexible schedule including evening hours.
