The Navy’s Lead Special Trial Counsel Speaks to Students About the Changed Military Justice System

On October 30, GW Law’s National Security, Cybersecurity, and Foreign Relations Law Program and the Military Law Society hosted Rear Admiral Jonathan T. Stephens, JD ’05, LLM ’11. Admiral Stephens currently serves as the Lead Special Trial Counsel for the United States Navy.

During the event, Admiral Stephens spoke about his Navy career prior to law school and his role as a litigator after graduation from GW Law. Admiral Stephens provided students with valuable insight to the Navy JAG Corps and recent changes to the military justice system.

After Admiral Stephens’ formal presentation, student attendees had the opportunity to ask more specific questions about recent developments in the military justice system. Admiral Stephens also took the time to meet with students and answer individual questions.

This event was very well attended and provided students the opportunity to learn more about the military justice system and careers in the Navy JAG Corps. This successful event emphasizes GW Law’s National Security, Cybersecurity, & Foreign Relation Law Program’s dedication to supporting students with an interest in all facets of national security law, including military law.
