The Lawyer UK Becomes a “integrated single portal”

Editor Catrin Griffiths writes

The new site is not just a step-change for us; it’s a step-change in legal publishing. Over the past five years, The Lawyer has changed from being a weekly print magazine with a website into an award-winning digital provider of news, intelligence and data.

Up until now those information streams were separate. From today, they’re integrated into a single portal, and the result is the deepest and widest coverage available of the legal market.

What does this mean for you? If your organisation has a premium subscription, it means that you immediately have easier access to the data and accompanying analysis produced by The Lawyer’s editorial and research teams.

For example, if your firm has subscribed to our market reports, you can access them yourself without waiting for a PDF to be circulated. Premium subscribers can also access our extensive database of matters – now totalling 46,094 deals involving 4,341 law firms – so you can track who else your clients are instructing here and overseas.

The redesign, which was based on considerable consultation with the market, also sees a reorganisation of our content into user-friendly sections.

New: Long-form content from our monthly magazine and online analytical pieces can be found in the Commentary section – a must-read for understanding the dynamics within the market. You’ll also have easy access to our archive of data-rich long reads, a key component of our editorial coverage.

New: We know from our own analytics that the most popular searches on TheLawyer.com are based on law firms. With that in mind, the new A-Z section is for anyone who wants to see collected news, analysis and data on a firm. Each page contains stories, long reads and each firm’s benchmarked position within our market reports – and it also links to our extensive database of matters, so you can get an instant picture of a firm’s advisory activity.

New: Over the past two years The Lawyer has strengthened its coverage of the technology, innovation and business services landscape. This has now grown to the extent that we have a dedicated section – you can find it on the top navigation bar under Innovation & Delivery. (As part of our enhanced coverage, subscribers to our Business Leadership weekly email will see that it will be renamed Innovation & Delivery in line with our site.)

New: Best In Class, a page where you can find the Hot 100, winners from The Lawyer Awards and The Lawyer European Awards and our Top 20 Cases. As part of The Lawyer’s longstanding championing of diversity, this also spotlights LGBT and BAME individuals as part of our annual Pride Week and Black History Month coverage.

We hope you find all these changes valuable. A digital offering can flex according to reader demand, so please let us have your feedback here.
