Thought this might be worth a quick read . Will we be seeing more of this before the summer vacation kicks in ? It looks like those who live by the sword die by the sword.
Fried Frank Hong Kong partners find homes ahead of closure
US firm Fried Frank made quite a splash in 2006 when it raided Simmons & Simmons for a five-partner team to lead its Hong Kong launch.
But fast forward to January 2015 and it’s a different story. That was when the firm announced its decision to pull out of the Chinese special administrative region after failing to grow its operations there.
That was bad news for Fried Frank’s four Hong Kong partners, who were given until the end of June to find a new home. Three of them have done just that, with disputes partner Alfred Wu taking a senior consultant and three associates to Norton Rose Fulbright while corporate specialists Douglas Freeman and Victor Chen are heading to Paul Hastings.
With just two months until the office shuts for good, the race is on for corporate lawyer and Herbert Smith alumna Carolyn Sng to follow their lead.
