The Law Society of Singapore is seeking a new? Chief Executive Officer
to take office from the third quarter of this year.
The job requires a highly mature, responsible and passionate candidate to handle the threefold mission of the Law Society:
(1)?????? To oversee and coordinate the regulatory functions of the Law Society under the Legal Profession Act;
(2)?????? To look after the interests and welfare of the practising legal profession in Singapore;
(3)?????? To develop and maintain the outreach programs of the Law Society, including its pro bono and law awareness programs.
As CEO, the candidate will head the 44?person Secretariat and report to the Council of the Law Society. He or she will also be engaged in dialogues with other stakeholders in the administration of justice in Singapore including the Courts. The CEO will also be involved in the maintenance of relations with our counterparts in other countries, particularly in the Asia Pacific region, as our regional bar associations meet regularly at least once a year at a regional conference.
The successful candidate need not be a qualified lawyer, but former practising lawyers will have a great advantage in understanding the purposes and powers of the Law Society and the nature of its interaction with practising lawyers and other government and quasi-governmental agencies.
Requirements
?????????? Tertiary degree
?????????? Minimum 3 years? managerial experience
?????????? Experience in the legal industry will be an added advantage
?????????? Strong communication and interpersonal skills
?????????? Singaporean/ Singapore Permanent Resident
