THE HONOURABLE SOCIETY OF THE INNER TEMPLE SENIOR LIBRARY ASSISTANT £31,500

The Inner Temple is one of the four Inns of Court and is responsible for calling barristers to the Bar of England and Wales.  Its members are students, barristers and judges.  The Inn provides continuing legal education after qualification and other services for members.

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Library Assistant to join our team of eight in this long-established law library which serves barristers and bar students.

 

The job involves a wide variety of tasks including enquiry work (for half of each working day), providing a document supply service, coordinating binding activities, indexing, and assisting with online serials work as well as carrying out tours, training and outreach activities for students and pupils.

 

Applicants must be qualified information professionals with experience of working in a law library and familiarity with enquiry work relating to the English legal system (using hard copy and online resources).  A high level of IT literacy is required. Experience of, or an interest in, binding work is desirable.  Effective communication skills, confidence in dealing with a wide range of users, from students to senior barristers and judges, the ability to work under pressure and flexibility are all vital.
