The Global Legal Post has launched the first of a new series of comparative law guides on fashion law, under the Law Over Borders brand.

Edited by Julia Holden, a senior Milan-based partner at Italian firm Trevisan & Cuonzo, the online Fashion Law guide provides answers and insight into the law around the business of fashion in key jurisdictions around the world.

Jurisdictions covered include Australia, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Italy, France, Germany, the UK, Ireland, Brazil and the US.

Contributing authors provide guidance on areas such as the effective legal protection of brands, the rules around e-commerce and marketing as well as how to navigate sustainability guidelines.

They answer a series of questions, to guide readers through the legal regimes of their jurisdictions in the fast-changing field of fashion law. The easy-to-use digital format allows readers to quickly compare the legal frameworks of different jurisdictions.

The online guide will be regularly updated by its contributors while a book featuring additional content will be launched at the market-leading Luxury Law Summit Europe, taking place in London on 20 June.

Holden said: “Using the expert legal minds, with hands on fashion client experience, we’ve curated highly informative country chapters advising on contemporary issues facing the fashion industry, such as co-branding, advertising laws and social media influencers.

“This handbook will educate anyone on how fashion law is practically applied in different countries around the globe. It makes a great up-to-date resource useful not only for law firm practitioners but also for in-house Fashion Counsel and all those working in the ever more complex online and store selling fashion business.”

Forthcoming guides include Luxury Law, Anticounterfeiting and Arbitration. Leading experts who would like to discuss either editing or contributing to a guide please contact our series editor [email protected].

The Global Legal Post hosts the market-leading Luxury Law Summit. The virtual Luxury Law Summit Americas takes place on 10 November and features top executives from brands and brand houses including Burberry, Figure Eight, Marquee Brands and Ralph Lauren. Click here to book a ticket.
