If you are working in China this is a must must read

Greetings from the China Guiding Cases Project (CGCP)!

After months of preparation and hours of hard work these past couple of weeks following the release of the first batch of guiding cases by the Supreme People’s Court on December 20, 2011, today the CCGP Team is proud to announce the launch of the China Guiding Cases Project website at http://cgc.law.stanford.edu.

The website primarily covers the following:

Original Chinese version (https://cgc.law.stanford.edu/?????????????????/) and English translation (https://cgc.law.stanford.edu/supreme-peoples-court-concerning-work-on-guiding-cases/) of the Provisions of the Supreme People’s Court Concerning Work on Guiding Cases;
Original versions and English translations of the first FOUR guiding cases just released by the Supreme People’s Court (https://cgc.law.stanford.edu/guiding-cases/); and
Our research into Why Guiding Cases Matter (https://cgc.law.stanford.edu/why-guiding-cases-matter/).
Please note that the completion of Guiding Cases 1-3 allowed us to make better decisions about certain expressions and formats.??We have, therefore, made some changes to our “Guiding Cases No. 4” files, the earlier versions of which were attached to our first message sent on January 2, 2012.??We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

In addition, our international team strives to accurately translate the guiding cases by taking into account Chinese legal concepts, Chinese legal culture, and other considerations such as that we must not use a legal term widely used in the West, unless we are certain that such a term carries the same meaning in China.??Although we are very pleased with the versions posted on the CGCP website, we welcome suggestions that could help us improve.??We therefore welcome comments on particular guiding cases and expert commentary, which can be submitted via the commentary boxes provided on the website.

Thank you for your interest and support.??If you haven’t already done so, please subscribe to the China Guiding Cases Project mailing list by visiting https://mailman.stanford.edu/mailman/listinfo/chinaguidingcasesproject.??Just enter your email address in the space provided and then click “Subscribe” to keep abreast of CGCP announcements and updates.??And look out for our public event to be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, 12:45 ? 2 p.m., at Stanford Law School, where Dean Larry Kramer will commemorate the official launch of the CGCP and the public release of our official products.

Sincerely,

The CGCP Team
