The BBC Annnounces – Happy reunion: The Split is returning with a 2 part special

Here at HOB it’s our favourite family law firm with the most improbable plotlines and a level of conflict of interest that no other law/legal show can ever hope to match. Can’t wait!!

Obiter reports for the Law Soc Gazette

Great news for all fans of family law drama The Split – the BBC has announced that it is returning to a small screen near us for a two-part special.

‘Problematic prenups, scandalous wedding crashers, and low flying marriage proposals, as rom com meets gone wrong, in a chaotic and riotous weekend that guarantees to crack open the heart, before the last of the guests have gone home,’ teased show creator and writer Abi Morgan.

The two-part special will be set two years on from the series 3 finale – with family lawyer Hannah Defoe (Nicola Walker) and her family gathered for a wedding at a magnificent vineyard in Catalonia’s wine region.

‘Set across one sun soaked weekend, The Split will encompass break-ups, reunions and like all good weddings, plenty of romance,’ the BBC said.

The Gazette has made a few appearances in the show – in series 2, when matriarch Ruth Defoe appeared on the front page alongside the headline ‘World Class’, and in series 3 when another divorce lawyer, played by Anna Chancellor, featured on the cover, alongside the headline ‘A Class Act’.

The Gazette is fully digital now – but lawyers can still stay up to date with all the legal news on the Gazette’s website, even in beautiful Catalonia (hint, hint).
