The American Society of International Law Asia-Pacific Interest Group (IG) is starting a newsletter on international law developments in the Asian region. The IG is looking for a research assistant (RA) to help with putting together the newsletter. The RA will assist the newsletter editor, a leading arbitrator in Asia, in conducting research on international law developments, including public international law and private international law concerns. The RA will provide summaries and analyses and also work with ASIL staff in designing the newsletter. The newsletter will be biannual.
The RA should either be enrolled in a JD, SJD/JSD, or LLM program (or equivalent such degree program) or already have such a degree, and have solid legal research skills (e.g., using WestLaw, NexisLexis, etc.) The RA should know at least one Asian language, and have some knowledge of working with Asian law databases (e.g., Chinalawinfo, Manupatra, etc.) Some translation work may be necessary.
While the IG does not have a budget for this role, the RA-ship would be an excellent networking and professional-development experience. Their name would go on the newsletter which would be sent to over two hundred of the leading academics, practitioners, and policy makers in the Asian region.
If you know of a candidate who may be interested, please let me know.
Thank you,
Matthew Erie
ASIL Asia-Pacific Interest Group Co-Chair
