Tennessee: Donati Law Firm withdraws from State Bar Association, says they are “silent” in face of Trump’s attacks on rule of law

Well done that law firm

A decades-old Memphis law firm has resigned from the Tennessee Bar Association (TBA), citing qualms with its inaction against the Trump administration’s “unprecedented assault on the rule of law.”

Donati Law, PLLC, a firm that has served Memphis and the Mid-South for more than 40 years, announced its resignation from the state bar Wednesday.

In a letter to TBA announcing the decision, the team of attorneys cites numerous examples of what it calls “executive overreach” against the judiciary by President Donald Trump’s administration.

This includes the administration’s repeated call to impeach U.S. Supreme Court justices for challenging recent executive actions.

“As you know,” a portion of the letter reads, “in the past three months, the Trump Administration has exerted enormous pressure on the courts and judiciary and engaged in behavior that threatens the very fabric of our constitutional system.”

Donati claims that the TBA voted to “remain silent” on these concerns during an undisclosed event that occurred April 14.

“These actions damage our system of justice and must be condemned,” the letter continues. “Remaining silent is complicity… As a result, we can no longer continue our membership with the Tennessee Bar Association.”
