Full Job Description
Overview:
The Reference Librarian will provide reference and research services to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and members of the broader legal community.

Responsibilities:
Provide reference service and research support
Participate in activities involving conducting research for writing, editing, and publishing bibliographic guides
Work the reference desk as assigned by the Head of Public Services
Participate with the reference team in research training for law students
Contribute to law library scholarship
Participate in regional and national professional organizations
Train faculty and adjuncts in new technologies and course management tools
Teach semester-long one credit legal research courses as assigned
Guest lecture in law school classes as assigned
Serve the clinical classes as assigned by the Head of Public Services
Train research assistants
Edit and post documents to the Law Center’s electronic archive for scholarship and electronic websites that contain faculty writings
Maintain and contribute to the library web pages blog, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media tools to publicize library activities
Coordinate access to the library’s subscription databases
Create online legal research tutorials, with the appropriate technologies, as assigned by the Head of Public Services and the Library Director
Keep current with evolving technologies
Assist in Technical Services & perform general circulation duities as needed
Additional library wide projects as assigned

Qualifications:
Education/ Experience
Juris Doctor preferred
Master of Library Science preferred
J.D. Degree from an ABA accredited law school
M.L.S. or equivalent degree from an ABA accredited institution
Will consider applicants who have one degree

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

Excellent writing skills
Excellent technology skills
Competency in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on competency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
A professional demeanor, organizational abilities, computer skills, and good communication skills are essential.

Light lifting and carrying may be required to stack management tasks such as shifting, weeding, and shelving print resources
