A Kurdish lawyer was killed by gunfire from mercenaries of the interim government while attempting to leave the city of Raqqa for Kobani, amid intensifying clashes.
A Kurdish lawyer was killed on Sunday, 18 January, after being shot by mercenaries of the interim government in the city of Raqqa while attempting to flee toward the city of Kobani, according to human rights activist Ibrahim Sheikho.
According to the activist, the lawyer, Suleiman Ismail originally from the village of Quneitra Sheikh?n in the countryside of Kobani and a resident of Raqqa was directly targeted with gunfire by interim government mercenaries while trying to leave the city following the escalation of fighting there.
Several Kurdish families have reportedly been killed in racially motivated attacks and targeted on the basis of identity while attempting to flee the cities of Raqqa and Tabqa.
