The Council of Al-Raqqah Branch of the Bar Association, affiliated with the institutions of the Caretaker Government, issued Decision No. 352/2025, which stipulates the dismissal of 14 lawyers from the Syrian Bar Association following the council’s meeting today, Thursday.
The decision includes removing the lawyers’ names from the Bar Association registry, requiring those affected to hand over their bar ID cards, take down the profession’s emblem from their offices and referring them to the judiciary on charges of committing acts considered crimes punishable under Syrian law, according to the text of the decision.
According to reliable SOHR sources, most of those affected by this decision work in courts affiliated with the “Autonomous Administration,” and had worked in the Autonomous Administration’s Social Justice Council and civil councils. The sources added that the decision was taken arbitrarily against the lawyers it targeted, with no clear reasons given for it, although it is likely linked to their involvement in human rights unions within the Autonomous Administration.
This comes as part of a series of arbitrary measures taken by institutions of the Caretaker Government against employees and workers across various Syrian regions.
