Sweden Helps Inaugurate New Law Library In Vietnam

Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Nguyen Thien Nhan and Swedish ambassador Rolf Bergman inaugurated a library at the HCM City Law University last Saturday.

The US$1 million facility has been set up under a Swedish-funded project to strengthen legal education in Viet Nam.

The press release goes on to tell us that staff and librarians will get training and modern equipment and facilities will also be installed under the programme.

Besides thousands of books in Vietnamese, the library will also have 450 books in English on international law and 50 computers for use by students.

Nhan told the inaugural function that the opening of the library was a milestone in the long, durable, and comprehensive ties between Viet Nam and Sweden.

"Professional and well-educated lawyers are a vital part of democratic development and the promotion of the rule of law that Viet Nam is undertaking today," Bergman said.

It is the second library funded by Sweden after the first one at the Ha Noi Law University that was opened in 2007.
