Suspended Yale Law scholar claims she was retaliated against for her Palestinian support

NEW HAVEN — A deputy director of a Yale Law School project is alleging her recent suspension from the school was retaliatory for her support of Palestine and based upon spurious claims fabricated by artificial intelligence.

Helyeh Doutaghi, a Muslim-Iranian scholar of international law, said in a statement posted on the social networking apps X and Bluesky Wednesday that she was placed on leave within 24 hours of Jewish Onliner, a website found by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, publishing an article alleging she had terrorist connections, which she said is false.

“I was given only a few hours’ notice by the administration to attend an interrogation based on far-right AI-generated allegations against me, while enduring a flood of online harassment, death threats, and abuse by Zionist trolls, exacerbating ongoing unprecedented distress and complications both at work and at home,” Doutaghi wrote in her statement about the university’s response on March 3. “I endured all of this while fasting, and my request for religious accommodations during Ramadan was dismissed.”
