At Illinois Law, you will collaborate with members of the law library team to develop resources and services that position students for success. You will teach legal research courses, lead outreach to students, support research by students and faculty, and develop community and expertise through national, regional, and subject-specific professional organizations. We are located in a culturally rich, affordable university town near Chicago, Indianapolis, and St. Louis.

The position for Student Services, Research & Instruction Law Librarian begins at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor. Responsibilities include active participation in research support for law school faculty and students; providing reference to faculty, students, staff, the University community, and the public; teaching legal research courses; assisting in public engagement to promote faculty scholarship; and assisting in supporting technology-based services for research, law library operations improvement, and content creation, such as digital initiatives and services. This is an exciting position for someone who enjoys working closely with students and faculty.

Minimum Qualifications
Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited law school, and Master’s degree in Information or Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution or the equivalent. We encourage JD-holders in their final year of an MLIS program to apply.

Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated successful experience teaching law students and partnering with law faculty on research projects.

Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Academic position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 11/1/2022. Salary is commensurate with experience.
