An Oconee County man is facing many charges for allegedly portraying himself as a lawyer.
On Wednesday, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division charged 30-year-old Nathan Lee Chambers, of Seneca, with misrepresenting being a lawyer to solicit business, obtain anything of value or provide legal advice.
An investigation was initiated in July 2023.
Arrest warrants said between the dates of June 4 and November 14, Chambers presented himself to the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office as a lawyer for the purpose of providing legal advice or assistance for a criminal defendant.
Chambers also filed legal documents and motions with the solicitor’s office according to officials.
Investigators learned that Chambers is not a member of the South Carolina Bar or authorized to perform prescribed legal activities by action of the Supreme Court of South Carolina.
It was reported that Chambers knowingly forged his father’s name on legal documents to the solicitor’s office without his father’s knowledge, consent or authorization.
Chambers was booked into the Greenville County Detention Center.
He was also charged with forgery and unauthorized practice of law.
