Sony Music Entertainment is owed millions of dollars in music licensing fees by Triller Inc. for its short-form video-sharing app, according to a copyright infringement lawsuit filed Monday in New York federal court.
The complaint said Sony Music ended its licensing agreement with Triller on Aug. 8, after the app maker failed to make monthly payments starting in March, but Triller continues to host copyrighted music on its platform.
The record label is seeking a injunction to “stop Triller’s massive, willful, and deliberate campaign of infringement.”
