Sony Music Entertainment Inc. filed a new copyright infringement lawsuit against an artist whose remix of the 1989 song “Reflections” went viral on the social media platform TikTok Inc., dropping an identical one filed previously in a differnt state.
Sony Music, which owns the copyright to Japanese composer Toshifumi Hinata’s “Reflections,” sued the artist known as Trefuego in the Northern District of Texas on Monday, the same day it voluntarily dismissed the case it brought in Arizona federal court in December 2022.
